New turf in need of love

Anon:
Yesterday was a special day for my back garden. A layer of cathedral turf was laid by a couple of jacks of all trades, as I have no gardening skills what so ever.

Since I moved in two years ago the back garden was not touched.
I learned to cut the grass of the small front lawn by watching neighbors, pick up ideas, go on the internet for more information and then put it all in practice. It’s a good learning experience.
I really want to have a nice garden but I’m caught between my limitations and the greedy expensive trades man who just waiting for a chance to rip off money.
My jacks of all trades built a retaining wall; when seen by the tradesman who delivered the turf took me aside and told me that there are few technical mistakes with the wall. Oh god, these guys were contracted to do the patio as well. What a dilemma!
Late in the evening and after they finished the turf job, I told them in a nice way after some Pizza and tea "let us have a break for a couple of days."
Haven't decided yet what is next but I’m sure about that I have to focus on watering the new turf and give it a good treatment.
