Billy Badger and my garden holes

 V. Pownal:

My lovely lawn has seen it all
Cricket bats, the odd football,
My babies grew and flew the nest
Therefore my lawn should look its best!

But late at night, just after dark
Just out of sight, a noise I hark!
(oo how bad is that line! Sorry!)
It’s not a dog, it’s not a cat
Just one thing makes a hole like that!

It’s Billy Badger with his snout
I really could give him a clout!
He digs around without a care
And leaves my lovely lawn quite bare!
(Although, I am exaggerating a bit there! Artistic license?)

It’s full of holes, which once held grass,
Another job for me, alas
But sad tho is this tale of woe
Where else would Billy Badger go?

It’s worth the sacrifice I think
He’s there - then he’s gone - in a blink
He really is a splendid sight
And I’ll sacrifice my lawn each night.
