 “Build Buy or Restore ABROAD”

Hotbed Media, is producing a third series of the popular property programme 'Build, Buy or Restore' for the Discovery channel and are currently looking for contributors. This time its abroad and we are seeking couples that are thinking about self-building or restoring properties in France, Spain, Portugal or Cyprus. The programme will be exploring the pros and cons of self-building and renovation/conversion versus simply buying a finished home.

We are searching for couples who are looking to move house and are interested in knowing more about self-build and renovation/conversion in one of the locations mentioned above, but who haven't taken their first steps yet. Filming takes place over two days between September and November and all expenses will be paid.

Couples will benefit from expert advice and an insider's look at an array of properties in their chosen locations geared towards their needs and desires as well as their price range. The couples are guided through the process by our self-build expert, Editor-in-Chief of Homebuilding and Renovating Magazine, Michael Holmes.

If you are only just considering moving and you have a budget of £150,000 or more, let the Build Buy or Restore team come to your assistance and perhaps open your eyes to some exciting options you may not have thought suitable or possible! Ways to get out of paying your rent ...

A disgruntled tenant on a caravan site in Essex found one way to dispute an outstanding rental payment.  The heavy plant operator knocked down the landlord's house, badly damaging two cars in the driveway, and destroyed a police car that arrived at the scene.

The house had one dog and six cats one cat is still currently missing. A reported in the Telegraph,

'Vincent Frostick, an accountant who lives opposite the demolished house, said: "I saw the JCB driving up the road. A policewoman turned up and tried to stop him but he just smashed through the car. He was very, very calm - he wasn't shouting or anything. He demolished the two cars in the drive by lowering the bucket on to them.'

Do you have any stories about rent avoidance? We'd love to hear about them.

The mushroom development in Turkey

Just like the smurfs, the picturesque Akbuk Bay is the location of a unique holiday development. Located on a hill approximately 500 meters from the Aegean Sea all the houses in the Mushroom Village Holiday Development will have their very own uninterrupted sea views. The imaginative idea originated from the builder during her pregnancy a number of years ago.  Her ambition was to create a family orientated nature theme holiday where parents could de-stress while their children were happily occupied in a safe natural environment.

Sixty nine mushroom houses will be built in groups, with each group will be named after a flower. Next to each house is a vegetable garden and residents can bring these to the restaurant and have them cooked for them. This unusual holiday village will have a restaurant shaped as a cat, and a theatre shaped as a mouse. But along with the unusual, the village also provides phaetons (horse and carriage) to the beach.

This is an off the plan project, and one display house is already built and is open for viewings.  Building work will commence at the beginning of 2007. For further information please contact Sun Escape Estate Agents. Email Sun Escape Estate Agents or call 0090 256 811 51 97.

For some a bizarre place to go, for others the perfect place to relax and spend time with the kids. What do you think?

Shedloads of sheds!

If you are in the market for a garden shed or happen to have a bit of an obsession, then you have to visit www.readersheds.co.uk - the ultimate site for shed heads. People post images of their own sheds, describing features and the origins and other sheddi vote and comment on what they see. Some of them are quite funny like this:

My relationship with my shed has led me to believe it actually has feelings because one cold and windy night I was sure I heard it communicate in its own rattley way with the neighbours wooden shed which is just the other side of the fence. All we heard all night was clanking and rattling followed by the creaking of the neighbours in some sort of reply. I am positive that if it was not for the obstacle of the fence that Mr Rattler would be up for it and we would then be the proud owners of a mixed material shed.
