propertyfinder.com's Growth Outstripping ALL Major Competitors

Between October last year and May this year, propertyfinder.com (realestate.com.au's UK site) has out grown all major competitors.

According to independent site measurement company comScore, propertyfinder.com grew by 88% over the period, more than double the growth of fish4homes and rightmove.

Most interesting was the decline in traffic suffered by primelocation over the same period.  According to comScore, primelocation's traffic decreased by 2% between October 2005 and May 2006.  It does make you wonder whether if the 48 million pound purchase price paid by DMGT for primelocation was a tad over enthusiastic.

The even better news is that we know that propertyfinder's traffic in June and July this year was significantly more than May - the source of these numbers. We will update you on the growth as the new comScore numbers are released.

Isnt it time realestate.com.au Ltd changed its name to reflect its a global company an not a single site outfit? It just dont sit well with UK citizens to be reminded continually that propertyfinder is now a foriegn import - from the colonies no less...

Harold Mitchell was helping you guys out this morning on 702-ABC radio in sydney. he suggested that domain.com.au taking 50 real estate agents on a junket to LA and Cuba wasnt such a good idea -given castro is very ill..
thought you'd like to know.

Thanks for your response. While we are still waiting for the June comScore numbers to be released, we expect the ranking of major portal sites to be

1) Rightmove
2) Propertyfinder
3) Findaproperty
4) Primelocation
5) Fish4Homes

Perhaps 4 & 5 may be swapped

Hope this helps

Thank you for your comments above re: the naming of the REA Group.

We are now referring to ourselves (internally atleast) as the REA Group of companies. REA refers to our stock ticker on the ASX.

I am sure that given your success at the ashes and rugby (and constant reminders too), you wont mind if we have a little success on the portal side?

Also, propertyfinder is 50% owned by News International - the publisher of the Sun and the Times.

Congratulations a really good, well designed and thought out site. As a designer I was just wondering how long the design process took and how much it would cost to develop something similar.
I don't know maybe it would be an interesting challenge to see if it could be done.
