Estate agents bowled over by tickets to the Ashes

Thanks to propertyfinder.com and its Australian cousin realestate.com.au, two lucky UK estate agents and their guests are preparing themselves for an unforgettable New Year's experience in sunny Oz plus a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness first hand the battle between Australia and England for the Ashes.

Simon Bradbury from Thomas Morris and Gareth Fatchett from Chamberlains each won two tickets to Sydney over the New Year in the propertyfinder.com draw. Both winners will enjoy a seven night break for them and one guest each, including return flights to Sydney, four star accommodation and VIP tickets to watch every day of the final test match of the Ashes.

The winners will fly out after Christmas in time to spend New Year's Eve in one of the most exciting cities in the world, as well as being given tickets to the sold out final Test in the Series.

Warren Bright, Chief Executive Officer of propertyfinder.com said "Cricket mad estate agents up and down the country entered our draw. The property market has been exceptionally busy of late and Christmas is one period when estate agents can actually get a breather. I hope that Simon and Gareth have a fantastic holiday. We are committed to providing our estate agent customers with the best possible service. We know how hard agents work and whilst propertyfinder.com helps by giving them access to the widest possible audience of home seekers, we are happy to be able to offer our winners a well deserved break over the Christmas period".

Ways to Promote An Agent's Website

The promotion of an agent's website is critical in driving traffic to that site and hopefully converting that traffic to buyer and seller leads.

A recent article by Bob Ward in the Real Estate Institute of New South Wales Journal identifies what he terms "the 10 commandments of website promotion".

Here is a summary of his suggestions

  1. Your web address should appear on all business stationery and promotional material.
  2. Mention your web address in all press releases or articles you write.
  3. Incorporate your web and email addresses into your email auto signature message.
  4. Include your web address in your "30 second networking commercial" when you meet people and talk about your agency.
  5. The web address should be included with your company logo and name on any agency t-shirts or attire.
  6. Include your web address on any name badges that your staff wear.
  7. When speaking in public, your speaker introduction should incorporate reference to your web address and you should refer to it in your presentation.
  8. You should include your web address in your motor vehicle sign writing.
  9. Establish reciprocal links with other websites that appeal to your clients, referrers and prospects.
  10. Publish a newsletter and regularly include details of new content and other changes to your website.

Agents Incorporate Video into their Website

I had the fun attending the launch of the new Ray White Double Bay Group website this evening.  While the site is easy to use, full of information and covers Sydney's most luxurious homes, it also has some great pieces of technology embedded in the site.  (Check out www.rwdb.com.au)

RWDB.jpg

Build by www.realestate.com.au, the co-owner of propertyfinder, the site feature video tours of homes, the ability to download these video tours to an ipod, and video introductions of sales people.

Check out http://www.rwdb.com.au/ofiTv.shtml to see how easy it is to do.  The cost of a video tour of a house is ~GBP150.

The Ray White Double Bay estate agents have also created video overviews of the key sales people.  Check out the video introduction for Michael Finger -  http://video.vividas.com/SmashPop/rwdb_MichaelFinger/

Its all about cut through - making online advertising stand out

Each month well over 100,000 new advertisements are listed for the first time on realestate.com.au and realcommercial.com.au.  These advertisements cover sales, rentals, new devleopments and share accommodation. With this many new advertisements being listed each month, it is important to stand out from the competitors.

One innovative agent in Victoria, Woodards of Carlton North, has taken a more innovative approach to advertising a home in Nth Fitzroy that is in a dramatic state of disrepair.  Check out the ad at www.realestate.com.au/103087227

Agents - Are You Getting the Most from Your Web Address (URL)

I recently picked up a magazine from an estate agency group that had 150 properties advertised from across many of its offices.  Inside the front page, the following was written

"ABC (not real name of the group) is a truly international network of offices ... Every ABC office operates under a common set of objectives, policies, procedures and quality control to ensure our clients receive the same high quality service where-ever they are. ..." and so on.

Based on this writing you would think that they would have a clear and consistent appraoch to handling their website and driving traffic from the magazine to the website so that i could find out more information on a property.

So imagine my surprise when looking at this publication to see that there were 10 different web addresses being promoted and none of the URL's being promoted actually immediately gave me any more information on the property they were referring to.

So there are 2 simple things that a group or an office can do to get the most from their URL or web address.

Blog Marketing - A Great Way for Agents to Connect to their Market

Blogs or weblogs, as they are more formally known, are one of the online growth stories of 2005.  It is estimated that there are over 50 million blogs out there and that the number of people reading these has grown to over 200 million. Anaylsis of Hitwise data shows that visitors to UK blogs have increased by 24% between January 2005 and January 2006. The number of blogs tracked by them have doubled over the course of the year.

So what is a blog?  A blog is a web page that allows you, the agent, to openly discuss issues with your audience and allow them to respond or comment on those issues.  It will help build loyalty to your website and also reinforce your local market leadership position.
